A specialist monitoring company has been bought by engineering giant DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI).
Datum Group was founded in 1999 by its current owner and chief executive Rory O'Rourke to provide services to the mining, rail and construction sectors. Headquartered in Bury, it has offices in London, Swindon, Glasgow, Belfast and Colorado.
"DSI is an impressive business with a history of excellence built on reputation and, as a pivotal component of its global services division, will enable Datum to expand and grow to meet the vast opportunities presented to the company by HS2 and other major projects," said O'Rourke. "Together DSI and Datum are well positioned to deliver innovation and technology to meet the challenges set by the customers of each company across the world."
Matti Kuivalainen, chief executive of DYWIDAG-Systems International, added: "The ageing infrastructure presents a huge growth opportunity for DYWIDAG-Systems International and with the acquisition of Datum we enter to infrastructure health monitoring segment of it.
"This is strategically a very important milestone for us."
Lead adviser for the seller was Frazer Hall Corporate Finance (Steve Frazer), the solicitor acting for the seller was Ward Hadaway (Paul Johnson) and the solicitor acting for the buyer was Clarke Willmott (Rob Ridd).
